Two solve this there are two solutions, one is to replace the faulty part with a new item which is costly and the same problem can occur with time. Posts: 1. Discovery 3 cold start problem. I have a Disco 3 TDV6 HSE 06. During the very cold mornings I have found that when i start the engine it is very rough and lumpy when idle. I have no loss of power, nor is there any dark smoke from the exhaust. When the engine starts to heat up the problem goes and engine when idle is fine and smooth.

Jun 23, 2014. #1. i have a 2008 Discovery 3 TDV6 loosing coolant - possible head gasket gone, its been into a main dealer and they have carried out leak test and say its a internal leak but at the same time wont 100% confirm it. ive done some digging around over the weekend and everyone seems to be surprised when they hear TDV6 head gasket gone
1-Disconnect the battery then remove the shifter handle and console top. 2-Unbolt the 4 mounting bolts holding the shifter in place to be able to access the connector. Don't worry about the cable to the transmission as it will remain stable. 3-Remove the connector on the rear of the shifter.
