2005 LAND ROVER DISCOVERY 3. I AM ASSUMING THAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT THE REAR HATCH AND NOT THE LOWER TAILGATE. IF THE UPPER HATCH WILL NOT OPEN, THE FIRST STEP IS TO CHECK THE FUSES. IF THE FUSES ARE OK THEN THE PROBLEM IS PROBABLY THE LOCK ACTUATOR. THE ONLY WAY TO ACCESS THE LOCK IS THROUGH THE INTERIOR OF THE TAILGATE.

Remove the 2 bolts holding the cover on. The connector is mounted to a bracket further up the engine, and there is zero play in the wiring. Connector needs to be pushed up (from below) and slid off bracket. Remove the sensor, (2 more bolts and spacers), make sure they go back on the same order. Then disconnect connector.

It is a bit late now that you do not have any drive, but the easiest way to test the torque convertor is to put in drive, put you foot hard on the brakes and try revving it up to around 2,000 rpm. If it starts to die/stall at 2,000 rpm, your torque convertor should be OK.

Step #3 Remove the breather hose and then using a 14mm box end wrench remove the OEM Black Plastic Nipple. Step #4 Thread the FV308 into place, and re-install the breather hose and breather hose clamp. Step #5 Remove the breather hose clamp on the opposite end going to the RH valve cover and the breather hose.

Hi Guys, My 2010 TDV6 3.0 Disco 4 also has had intermittant no start as described above. One thing to considder is that the car wont start if the following conditions are not met. Car in Park, Foot on brake and the stering is unlocked! I have noticed that if I dont hear the steering unlock then the start sequence is aborted.
